Services We Offer Our Clients

The God Eros - one of our Breedmaster herdsires

We are breeders and we are brokers. We are able to sell you a cute little cria, possessing our own elite bloodlines, straight from our farm, or we can find any specific animal, or type of animal, that you may want from any of the over-280 farms, ranches, and breeders, we deal with in North America.

It takes years to build the confidence and trust that successful brokering demands, but we enjoy these priviledges with our network of cooperating breeders, and that is why we can easily buy an animal for you at no additional cost to you.

Even though we work for you, the buyer does not pay the broker - the seller pays the broker!

Our services include:

• Purchasing Animals - from us or from other breeders - tell us the type, color, and bloodlines you are interested in and let us be your broker. Or tell us how much you would like to spend and we'll make recommendations to you. We'll put our knowledge and experience to work for you and there is no additional cost or obligation to you.

• Upgrading - breeding with champion herdsires - we advise, search, and negotiate breeding fees for you at no additional charge to you

• Registration - All animals purchased from us will be ARI registered as well as DNA tested, analyzed, and certified for your protection and peace of mind. Microchips can be implanted in cria, if requested.

• Sale of Fiber - (with micron count and analysis) We'll advise you on the current fiber market in your area.

• Nutrition - with recommendations as to additives/supplements as well as types and quantities of hay, according to the nutritional quality and type of forage in your pastures.

• Tax Advice - including the many special tax advantages that apply to raising alpacas.

• Writing for Grants/Loans - Grants are usually available for existing businesses wishing to expand or grow. As a client, we’ll help you prepare a business plan and financial projections.

• No pregnancy, No fee - We offer a live birth guarantee on all breedings at our farm.

• Financing - We offer easy payment terms for those who wish  on all animals bred at Tall Pines Farm, with up to 24 months for full payment in many cases.

• Free agistment -  (boarding) with purchase of any Classic Alpacas animal.

• We'll also look after your alpacas for you, with short-term or long-term boarding rates available.

• To Show or Not to Show - Why, where, how often? We'll give you the pros and cons of showing alpacas. We will also advise you on the best way to prepare and show your alpacas, should you wish to do so.

Fiber is what it is all about

Excellent conformation is essential for an alpaca to become a champion or a valuable animal at stud, but ultra-fine fiber makes a good alpaca into a truly great one. Top class conformation comes from great bloodlines and fine genes. The finest fiber is also passed down in the DNA, but careful and knowledgeable nutrition and diet will greatly improve most fiber, and selective breeding will also improve the quality and quantity of the fiber of future offspring considerably.

Alpaca fiber is the finest and strongest natural fiber. It is 5 times warmer than wool, comes in 22 natural colors, is the strongest natural fiber, and yet is finer and softer than the finest angora, mohair, or cashmere.

The aim is to start with a heavy fleece of dense fiber with good coverage and improve it with each successive breeding. Hence the term ‘up-breeding’. Luster, or sheen, adds a dimension, as does Lock (its cleanliness and appearance). Crimp, or waviness, indicates greater length. Handle (how it feels) and Strength (its general health) also play an important part. Color is less important and Micron Counts are important to most, but not all, fiber buyers.

We investigated the business of raising alpacas thoroughly and with a totally open mind. We had to be sure that our hard-earned savings were not going into a fad or 'trendy' idea that had no 'legs' or staying power. We were too close to retirement to risk our future, and too many people's savings had gone down the drain with 'flash-in-the-pan' fads. Emus, ostriches, oil drilling, Enron, dot.com stocks, and the Nasdaq index; had all seemed great investments - until circumstances suddenly and drastically changed.

We met with alpaca experts and camelid specialists all over the country - at farms, universities, breeders' associations, veterinarians' seminars, conferences, and on the Internet. We learned many of the pitfalls, caveats, and areas of concern. We may not know it all, but we spoke to the people who do.

Why not let us help you? We are willing to pass on our knowledge to our clients so you can avoid costly mistakes and endure unnecessary delays. We want you to hit the ground running with your 'pacas.
